Critical upgrade requirement for GR Electrical alarm systems

Critical upgrade requirement for GR Electrical alarm systems

We would like to notify you of a critical upgrade to your security system from your current telephone line based digital communicator to a wireless radio product called MiniAir 2.

Critical UpdateHigher Level of Security

Your current alarm system relies on a telephone line to send intruder signals. These telephone lines are being closed down now as part of the UK’s ALL IP project. Telephone lines have already started to disappear and as soon as April 2022, around 3 million premises are estimated to be affected! MiniAir2 uses radio technology to overcome this threat whilst monitoring your system 24/7 and the Alarm Receiving Centre will be notified of any fault within 12 hours.

Wireless Signalling

MiniAir 2 uses Roaming 4G LTE-M SIM to send its signal, which provides access to all UK mobile networks. The unit will transfer to the strongest available network in order to deliver your alarm signal. This offers the best guarantee of radio coverage increasing its reliability and your property’s security. In addition, every MiniAir 2 is supplied with a second standby SIM to further safeguard your system. Signals will be sent via this standby system, should the primary SIM lose its connection.

Connelly Group Holdings Subsidy

In order to make the upgrade of your signalling device that connects to our 24hr dedicated alarm receiving centre, GR Electrical will install the device as we undertake the routine inspection and test of your system in the next 12-24 months. We have thousands of systems to upgrades logistically this will be a challenge. CSS will pay for the connection to the network as the associated back office and engineering labour to undertake the works.

There will however be a £70 annual fee for the network rental of the new device (similar to a mobile phone connection). This will be added to the automatic renewal fee when it becomes due. The additional annual fee should be offset by the reduction on previous telephone calls to our alarm receiving centre and the cost of the line rental of the alarm system’s fixed landline which will become redundant by no later than the end of 2024. The cessation of the old telephone exchanges is well underway now and will rapidly increase in the months ahead. This critical upgrade will take place automatically on future maintenance visits as resources and components parts allow.

  • No phone line needed
  • Roaming SIM

If you need any additional information or have any queries please contact us.

This critical upgrade will take place automatically on your maintenance visit. No further action is required. There will be an increase of £70 to your annual monitoring. However, this will largely be offset by your call savings.
