Fire evacuation systems
Fire evacuation systems including emergency lighting supplied and installed by GR Electrical & Security are compliant with British Standards 5266-1 2016 (the code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises).
Our feature rich systems are cost effective, low maintenance, environmentally friendly, and intelligent as they use addressable technology. This allows self-monitoring and self-testing of individual lighting elements within the system which can be viewed using unique graphics software.

Why install emergency lighting?
Property owners should be aware that emergency lighting is a legal requirement in premises within the UK and it must comply with BS 5266-1 2016.
The purpose and benefits of emergency lighting might be obvious but its importance cannot be underestimated. Emergency lighting shows clearly where a building’s escape routes are. It also provides lighting to enable safe and efficient movement of people to exits as well as for first aiders and fire fighters to perform vital life saving tasks, and show the locations of fire extinguishers and call points.
Emergency lighting is a legal requirement
Emergency lighting must be provided in order to comply with UK Fire Safety legislation. Premises this affects include shops, offices, community centres, public halls, schools, hotels, nursing and care homes, hospices, pubs, clubs and restaurants, warehouses, factories, and marquees.
In addition to UK wide legislation, local authorities have additional regulations which must be complied with. For example, these may apply to licensed premises, places of entertainment, public access areas, and hospital or residential care facilities. The lighting is also required to have an adequate backup power source from a generator for providing power in the event of a cut in the mains electricity supply.
